My opinion - strikers are perfectly within their rights to try to shut down red bull or any other festivities. Strikers are not within their rights trying to prevent garbage pickup, or throwing bottles at people hauling garbage - that is like saying, sorry you can't flush your toilet till the water utility strike is over.
Health reasons make that unacceptable.
As far as I'm concerned Red bull are scabs and the event should be picketed, but then I'm just an old trade unionist not up on all this modern thinking.
By the way, make-work "jobs" created by da gub mint will never replace or make up for the thousands of manufacturing jobs being exported by corporate America to China or whatever 3rd world country offering the cheapest slave labour with zero safety and environmental standards.
It seems we are witnessing the end of the industrial revolution in Canada and the U.S.
Maybe this is a good thing - quite frankly, factory work sucks, destroys your body and atrophies your mind, trust me I know, much like farm work that came before it, we humans don't really want to work that hard anymore.
That's all fine and good, but what are we going to replace our industrial based economy with?
Knowledge? Service?
I don't understand how that is supposed to work, basing an economy on not making any-thing, any real tangible product.
Maybe it will work, I don't know.
I suspect nobody knows, least of all the 'experts'.

I'm with you but I have my doubts. I think the Mayor just wants to test the forrest to see if he can hear the word "UNCLE".

Quick sarcasm...YOU THINK?

Eddie seems to think he's being sincere.
Red Bull people are not scabs. They paid us.
CUPE has to look at the big picture.
The bargaining committee is working on a new proposal that may or may not have new items in it, but next week.
Public pressure? Check the luncheon speech.

At the end of the day, how sore is the mayor's shoulder from the self-inflicted "pat on the back"?
